Agro-economic considerations
Glyphosate is not only a safe, when used in accordance with the label instructions, and effective tool to manage weeds on agricultural land and non-crop environments, but it is also a tool that contributes to efficiencies for many European farmers.
Thanks to its properties and the recommended application methods, glyphosate reduces costs associated to the use of fertilizers, the use of fuel-consuming machinery and manpower, while maintaining yield productivity.
Seeing it from another angle, discontinuing the application of glyphosate would have the unintended but foreseeable consequence of increasing the costs of farming while reducing crops’ productivity, as forecasted by numerous studies.
