SCoPAFF reached no opinion in the vote on the extension of the current approval of glyphosate
On 14 October, the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed (PAFF Committee) did not reach a decision on an extension of the current approval of glyphosate by one year.
The GRG will continue to follow the next steps of the process, remaining confident that as proposed by the Commission, the current approval would be extended to allow sufficient time for the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to conclude the ongoing scientific evaluation, as provided for in Art. 17 of Regulation (EC) No 1107/20091, concerning the placing of plant protection products on the market.
The GRG underlines that in June 2021, the designated Member States (France, Hungary, the Netherlands, and Sweden) published their draft Renewal Assessment Report (dRAR) for glyphosate and considered that glyphosate meets the approval criteria.
The GRG trusts the regulatory process and will continue to work transparently with the European Commission and the Member States as they thoroughly evaluate the submission for the re-approval of glyphosate.
